History and culture of the Mediterranean world offers hermeneutical insight into biblical times, places, peoples and customs. This concentration engages biblical themes through Middle Eastern eyes including historical, cultural, moral, and religious contexts which touch on honor/shame, race/ethnicity, individualism/collectivism, kinship/household, rules/relationships, purity/pollution, gender, slavery, and more. Arab, Islamic, Jewish, and Eastern Christianity are likewise explored against the lager biblical Great Controversy metanarrative.
